A Look at Marriage

Due to some recent discussions with a friend regarding issues related to marriage, divorce and remarriage, I have been studying to understand more fully the teaching of God’s Word in these areas. What a fascinating study! My plan is to write a series of posts on the topic of marriage in the next several days or weeks. I hope that you will find yourselves (as I have myself) increasingly in awe of God’s amazing design for our lives and His desire to communicate that design to us through His infallible, immutable Word.

I came across your blog as I was continuing my long-term biblical study of marriage, divorce and remarriage. This study began in 1998 when I found myself married and facing divorce and deeply desiring to honor God's will in my life. I have come to the solid conclusion that marriage is a permanent and life-long covenant that exists until death of a covenant partner. While I continue to seek God's heart in this manner, I believe that it is so very clear as I learn about God's nature, His heart, about covenant, and vows, and it goes on and on...that I have one husband for life.

Thank you so much for sharing - I admire your commitment to studying and adhering to what God's Word teaches, even in the midst of what sounds like a difficult time in your life. What a tremendous testimony! I, too, continue to be convinced of the permanency of the marriage covenant the more I read and study Scripture and seek to understand God's heart on this matter.
May the Lord bless you!
