Ski Country USA!
Packed up and ready to embark on the drive to Colorado. Naomi peers out from behind a packed seat - the amount of luggage and other paraphernalia seemed to increase proportionately to the additional space we acquired due to the absence of two sisters. I'm not sure how that happened...
We spent a little bit of time in downtown Denver and made our first visit ever to the Colorado State Capitol. We were shocked to learn during our tour that the gold roof contains less than three pounds of gold, pounded and stretched thinner than sheets of tissue paper.
A slightly obstructed view of the beautiful inside of the dome.
That's better. :-)
The marker on a stair outside the building, indicating the precise point that has been determined to be one mile above sea level.
All of us pose for a picture in the Presidents' Rotunda - do you recognize the only President from Kansas in the upper right hand corner of the picture?
We arrived in the mountains to beautiful weather and tons of fresh snow! Joey stands outside our condo the morning after we arrived.
Dad, Noelle, Naomi, Joey and I couldn't resist the pull of the outdoors and enjoyed walking along a bike trail that runs throughout the town.
Joey and Naomi perch precariously atop a huge pile of snow.
The moment we've all been waiting for arrives - we're ready to ski!
Dad and Joey enjoy conversing on one of the many lift rides that are required to take us to the top of the mountain.
We can barely pull ourselves away from the incredible skiing to eat a delicious lunch that Mom has packed for us.
A view of the top of the peak at Breckenridge as the sun descends behind the mountain. The arrow indicates the highest point from which we skiied. Joey and Naomi experienced their first ride up the T-bar lift and even braved skiing a couple of the bowls! Now if only Dad could master the T-bar technique... :-)
The week has been wonderfully relaxing and I've been able to accomplish, or at least make headway on, a number of projects as well. I thank the Lord for what a blessing each member of our family is to me. I can learn much from them and am grateful for the times we can spend together.

Why does that picture in the capital look so familiar? Oh, yes, DC in '91, just with different faces!
Glad you guys had fun, missed being there...

Whoa...an actual comment from my dear sis??! I'm shocked! ;-)
I remember doing that at the Washington Monument...did we do it at the Capitol too? Guess I'll have to rummage through some old photos.
We definitely missed you too. Maybe next year...
Thanks for your comment. :-)
Thanks for the fun pics, Natalie!!! Looks like ya'll had a blast. :o) The Vinsons are trying to plan a ski trip this year after the holidays... The closest I've ever come to skiing is sledding down a huge hill...standing up....really fast.
Eh, I know it's lame. But it's all I've got! :o)
Hope you're great, girl. Love ya!
