My "Appearance" on National News Radio

Last week I began teaching a speech class to my three youngest siblings. One of the things we discussed is how the Lord will bring situations into our lives where it will be important for us to know how to communicate effectively with others. My challenge to them for the week was to be aware of their daily conversations with others and aim to always speak clearly and purposefully, with the same care as if they were in a more formal speaking venue. We ought to seek to conduct ourselves daily in a manner that brings glory to God.

Little did I know that within the week a conversation of my own would be exhibited for all the country to hear (at about the 8:45 mark in the interview if you click the "listen" button)! Okay, so it only lasted roughly 5 seconds and hardly any listener would know it was me (except for the one who made a point to call me tonight and advise me of my new status as a national celebrity :-) ), but how sobering to think of my conversation being recorded and replayed for a huge audience of listeners.

Every word we speak has eternal ramifications. Let us make every effort to know when to speak and when to remain silent; when to praise and when to rebuke; when to encourage and when to instruct. Let us resolve to fill our hearts with the content that we want to overflow in our words, “for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.” Matthew 12:34
