Welcome!

Music plays an important role in the formation of the culture of each generation. With this realization, the training of musicians today is a vital part of making a difference in the future. At Natalie’s Piano Studio students are inspired to love music and are encouraged to pursue excellence in every area of their piano studies.

Piano Lessons for All Ages!

The individual needs and interests of each student are carefully considered, and lessons are planned and music is chosen accordingly. Students are led to understand musical concepts and develop skills that will prepare them for whatever their future in music may be.

What You Can Expect at Natalie’s Piano Studio

Christian Worldview

God is the Creator of all things, including music, and it should therefore be used to praise and glorify Him.

“Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, any by your will they existed and were created.” Revelation 4:11

“He put a new song in my mouth, even praise to our God. Many will see and fear, and put their trust in the LORD.” Psalm 40:3

It is my goal that each student will become a skilled musician who will use his/her talents and abilities to serve the Lord. It is important that each student receive a balanced music education that will prepare them for whatever their future in music may be. Every aspect of music works together and contributes to the overall ability of any musician. For this reason I include technique, sight-reading, ear training, theory, composition, improvisation, and performance in the music education of each student.

Comprehensive Musicianship

Utilizing the Piano Safari method along with hundreds of supplemental books and resources, students are encouraged to develop strong aural and visual skills. They learn musical patterns, rhythms, and techniques through an extensive collection of rote songs while building fluent sightreading abilities through sequential repertoire selections. Students learn to compose and arrange their own music and receive basic instruction in using computer notation software. Weekly focus on specific scales, chords, and arpeggios develops technical excellence and lays a solid foundation of music theory. We also interweave music history as we go and have lots of fun playing various games to help reinforce all of these concepts!

Practice Incentive Themes

One of the most exciting elements of Natalie’s Piano Studio is the custom practice incentive theme that is developed every year. Using a holistic, goal-centered philosophy, the theme provides a framework for students to select and work toward specific musical objectives, track their practice daily for accountability, and earn rewards along the way in recognition of their progress. We’ve traversed light years into outer space, solved mysteries, grown redwood trees, battled pirates, captured aquarium creatures, traveled the world, and more!

Music Technology

The studio is equipped with an acoustic Yamaha U1 piano, a Yamaha Clavinova CLP 220, and a Casio Privia PX-350M with midi hookup.

Each student receives an account on Muzie.Live, which will enable them to watch and send video recordings and participate in virtual piano lessons and/or group classes if necessary.

Students also receive basic instruction in using Finale music notation software and Audacity audio recording software. Our studio YouTube channel often showcases student performances as well!

Community Involvement

Whether it’s a neighborhood concert, playing with a worship team at church, providing background music for the annual Winterfest arts and crafts fair, participating in yearly Music Progressions evaluations, taking the stage in a massive multi-piano festival, or myriad other opportunities, we love sharing our music with others!

Students gain valuable performance experience at our monthly group classes and then are often thrilled to use their musical talents to bless the broader community. Those a bit more timid often enjoy taking the bench with a duet partner to alleviate some of the stress of playing for an audience. Performance is never required, but is often promoted, and I love finding just the right music that will inspire students to learn it well and want to share it with others!

Piano Expeditions Summer Piano Camps

The Piano Expeditions summer piano camp programs were created to provide fun and memorable early music experiences for young children in a group setting. Each expedition explores the life and times of a famous composer accompanied with an introduction to the piano. Students enjoy a week of listening to beautiful music, coloring coordinating pictures, improvising at the piano, playing games, reading a story, and much more as they explore the wild and wonderful world of music! Check out each program in detail:
