Short Story of the Day

This poignant short story was shared by Dave McCarrell, President of Pacific Garden Mission, in their monthly newsletter for October. (If you're ever in the Chicago area, I highly recommend a visit to PGM! It is a vibrant ministry that upholds high standards and has remained faithful to its mission for over 100 years.)

There was a young college student seeking work who got the job through the college to rake the leaves for an elderly shut-in woman. He had heard she didn't pay much, but he still took the job because he needed the money. When he got to her house he was amazed at the mess of leaves all over the lawn. He thought being a shut-in she would never know the kind of job he did, so he raked some of the leaves under the bushes. When he went to collect his pay, the woman thanked him and gave him much more than he expected. He felt so guilty that night when he returned to his room, after dark he returned to the woman's house and did the job right.

When we stand before Almighty God and realize what He has done for us, will we wish we could go back and live our lives differently?

I simply LOVE the Pacific Garden Mission stories!
Our entire family likes to sit and listen to them at night. The 'radio dramas' are quite fun and inspiring, even for the youngest members of our bunch.
The broadcasts are available at Unshackled
