In 100 words or less, essay-writing contestants were asked to elaborate on the topic, “Why Teachers Are Important To Me.” Two winners were chosen from each of three regions (Eastern, Western and Europe) for a total of six winners. Noelle received the exciting news today that her essay was selected as one of the two winners from our region. She is thrilled to be receiving a home computer system as her prize. Way to go sis!

Noelle is a very gifted young woman who eagerly serves those around her and has a heart that desires to please the Lord. She and I share a lot of common interests and I love spending time with her and talking with her. I look forward to seeing how God continues to work in her and through her in the years ahead. Here is her winning essay:

Teaching us important life lessons, giving us direction when we’re not sure of the way, helping us reach our full potential…these are some of the ways teachers help us.

Often the impact a teacher has lasts forever. Without their willingness to teach, many of us wouldn’t have the knowledge that we do or be the person that we are.

I’m thankful for all of the guidance, direction and help that my teachers have willingly offered throughout the years. I wouldn’t be the person I am today were it not for the teachers in my life.
