Structured Procrastination

Do you want to know the secret to getting a lot done? Here it is in a nutshell: structured procrastination. I love this concept! Probably because I’ve been doing it for years. Silly me, I just always thought it was a bad habit. I’m relieved to discover quite the opposite. It makes me feel much better about writing this post instead of getting something more important done at the moment.
Here’s a little excerpt from the article:
This is the essence of what I call structured procrastination, an amazing strategy I have discovered that converts procrastinators into effective human beings, respected and admired for all that they can accomplish and the good use they make of time…the procrastinator can be motivated to do difficult, timely and important tasks, as long as these tasks are a way of not doing something more important.
Whoa! This sounds so much like me, it’s scary!
I am always procrastinating about doing most anything. Brushing my teeth, taking a shower, going to bed, sending gifts to people, having my car window motor fixed, filling up my gas tank, mailing letters, writing blog posts, returning phone messages…you get the idea.
Thankfully, if I have a clear deadline or due date I don’t usually go past that. BUT…I might stay up all hours of the night before to get it done on time.
If there is no clear deadline…well, who knows when I’ll get it done?
Now, what else can I do before I go to bed tonight?! Hehe.
Haha, Lydia! I didn’t realize you were that much of a procrastinator. Though I must say, your blog-posting procrastination has gone a bit too far…
