Spring Break Is Over…

…all too soon, I’m afraid! I gave all my piano students a spring break and made an attempt to tackle my spring break to-do list. To satisfy everyone’s curiosity, here’s what I managed to get done from my list:

Thoroughly clean bedroom and studio

Go through closet; dejunk and reorganize

Buy fabric and make skirt

Finish homework and prepare to facilitate financial class

Write AIC song and piano accompaniment

Calligraphy certificates for church

Weed and mulch flower beds and prune rose bushes

Research community concert possibility for music teachers association

Send out information for upcoming Young People’s Concert

Finish reviews for Music Matters Blog

New post on blog (hey, what do you think this is?)

There were a few things that came up that our family ended up doing that we hadn’t originally planned (these, of course, had to be added to the list and then crossed off, just for the pure pleasure derived from crossing items off of a to-do list):

Clean out and reorganize garage and shed – (the pile of “for garage sale” items had become rather unsightly on one side of our garage, so some of us tackled that while others beautified the shed, which also has a tendency to move quickly from a state of order to disorder…hmm, isn’t there some sort of scientific law to explain this sort of phenomenon?)

Start new business – this came up rather suddenly and we’re not quite ready to officially announce the business, but we’re really excited! It has made for a pretty busy week of meetings, working on a website, determining organizational structure and workflow, etc. I’ll be sure to put up a post as soon as things are ready to go!

I was also glad for the extra time I had this week to visit with friends and take Joey to the Lake Afton Public Observatory as a special birthday surprise. He was excited to look through the 16″ aperture telescope and see the moon, but he was even more fascinated by the roof that rotated at the push of a button to allow the telescope to view the sky from different directions. :-)

Sadly, there were several things I did not have the pleasure of crossing off of my list:

Do taxes

Finalize AIC curriculum session

Edit AIC drama

Finish composing Psalms Project

Finish planning Spring Ball (studio recital next Tuesday)

Plan summer piano camps

Such is life! Always more to do. It occurred to me recently that the world would not cease to exist if I was no longer here to perform my daily responsibilities. While I may place a high value on productivity and the accomplishment of things, this is certainly not what necessarily is pleasing to the Lord. I wrote of this in a previous post, “Beep…beep…beep…beep.” These words of David in Psalm 102:11-12 have been a reminder and challenge to me to not place too much importance on myself, but to take every opportunity to seek the Lord and proclaim His eternal Name:

My days are like a shadow that declineth; and I am withered like grass.

But thou, O LORD, shalt endure forever; and thy remembrance unto all generations.

    Hi Naddy!

Yup! I definitely do that – increases the sense of accomplishment that way, you know. :-)

Thanks for the comment. Hope the wedding plans are going well for you!
