I like this explanation! My husband and I both agree divorce is not an option. I was in an interesting bible study years ago where one wise woman said even in cases of adultury within marriage, God still wishes for us to seek to reconcile the marriage. The cheating spouse must become truly repentant, and the other spouse must not assume that just because adultury is present does not mean one should immediately seek divorce. I tend to agree. There are many, many examples where the Lord provides healing to even the worst marriages where it would appear that reconciliation is not possible. Too many people think divorce is still acceptable where there is unfaithfulness or drug abuse, etc. How many of these marriages could be not only repaired but also a testament of Christ's glory as he works change in our lives? By jumping to the "option" of divorce, we cheat God out of an opportunity to work in our lives and be glorified as he transforms us from sinful humans to those reflecting his own image.

This is not to say there aren't situations where it is unsafe for a woman to remain in her own home due to abuse. However, if she chooses to physically remove herself and children from that sitaution, does not mean she needs to file for divorce just to remarry. There are other options besides divorce that will not put a spouse in harm's way.
